A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE

The TORONTO AEROS organization was founded 50 years ago when it was not common to see girls playing competitive hockey. Our organization was founded by parents who were searching for a place where their daughters could play a sport that they loved with a passion. They wanted their daughters to have the opportunity to:

• Enjoy Playing a Competitive Sport

• Develop Elite Hockey Skills

• Develop Strong Life Skills, Enabling Them to be Future Leaders

The Senior Aeros team was founded in 1974 when girl’s hockey was just starting to grow, and that team established an amazing standard of excellence while achieving numerous League Championships and Provincial Championships. The Senior Aeros team contributed many players to Team Canada and other Canadian National Programs. The Senior team ceased to exist when the National Women’s Hockey League, in which the team had competed since the League’s inception in 1999, suspended operations in 2007.

Our Junior Aeros (U22) team was founded in 1991 and has also developed a reputation for winning Championships at the league, provincial and tournament levels with more combined Gold & Silver Medals than any other organization.  http://pwhl.pointstreaksites.com/view/pwhl/past-champions-21)

Since then, the Junior Aeros team has graduated over 200 players to university programs across Canada and the USA, some still playing either at the Professional and/or Canadian National Team level. Equally important is the success these women have had in their post hockey careers in the business world.

Our Toronto Aeros (U18) team was founded in 2001 and has won numerous league championships and provincial championships. Every year, several Midget Aeros players graduate directly to university programs or to the Junior Aeros team.

HOCKEY HALL OF FAME

Two of our alumni, Angela James and Geraldine Heaney, who both played with the Senior Aeros, have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and the IIHF Hall of Fame.

We are extremely proud of the Aero's Tradition of Excellence that we established since day one of operations. Our Aeros tradition is recognized throughout the women's hockey world and our graduates have gone on to wonderful achievements in hockey, university and business.

TORONTO AEROS GIRLS HOCKEY ASSOCIATION

Our two high performance teams are managed by a Non-profit organization, The Toronto Aeros Girls’ Hockey Association (TAGHA).  Each year, teams are funded primarily by our generous sponsors, our players’ families and the proceeds from our annual fundraisers. Our Aeros parents are invited to take an active role as volunteers for scorekeeping, fundraising, hosting team get-togethers and game-day operations. The cost of playing on the Junior Aeros (U22) or the Toronto Aeros (U18) is comparable to other elite level teams in the GTA area. For more information about either team, please contact our staff by clicking on the Contact menu above.
